Last night's concert?

Last night we went to see the South Florida Philharmonic Orchestra play. VERY disappointed! It was suppose to start at 6:00 PM. The place it was held at was the Hollywood Performing Arts Center. FINALLY at 7:15 PM an ensemble (5 people) came on, OK . . . not the orchestra but they were OK. They played about half an hour. An announcement was made saying they needed to get the stage ready for the orchestra. At 8:15 PM still nothing! The curtain opened and we were expecting an orchestra, with strings and the whole nine yards! To us it looked like a Ricky Riccardo band setting up! I kid you not. They were fiddling with this and that, getting things ready and there were still band members walking in. We had enough, so we left. On our way out there were still members of the band walking in. It really would have been nice to know this was, "hey, whenever you all get there we will play!" Oh, I neglected to tell you we had not eaten dinner yet. That might have been why I was also ready to leave.

Wahoo

OK . . . not the best original title, but I am happy to a degree (sorry about the pun on words)! My daughter Kim, just graduated from University of Florida with her Master's Degree in Architecture.

OMG, there were so many receiving their Master's and PhD degrees (approximately 1500). What really stood out, besides my daughter ;-) was in her College of Design and Construction, three young men had on top of their hats: WILL WORK 4 FOOD! What does that say for the economy when graduating students who have earned their Master's Degree cannot find jobs. My daughter is one of them. As of right now she does not have a job lined up.

UF did have a job fair in February, small but still one. It was cancelled at one time. She interviewed with the three architecture firms, all who seemed hopeful at the time. Then when she received a call back in March, all hope was gone! Not only were the firms not hiring, they had to fire people.

I have no idea what the future will bring to her. I have a feeling she will be migrating back home until the job market has a better foothold.

Speaking of migrating back home, another daughter (remember I have three) will be coming back home in October. She is sharing an apartment with two other girls, but she is drowning in credit cards! Oh yes, she has more than 1 . . . 2 . . . 3, get this, she has 6! Damn, this is going to be hard on all of us.

So, whoever reads this I hope you have a job and that you keep it!
